The project (Inventorying living heritage practices in the heart of Historic Cairo) is the first cooperation between Egyptian Society for Folk Traditions (ESFT) as a nongovernmental community association that was renowned in 2000, and the governorate of Cairo as a government partner in the implementation of the UNESCO Convention for the Conservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage, to which Egypt acceded in 2005 The proposed project aims to prepare a community inventory of 26 crafts in historic Cairo, in the geographical area located in the central Cairo neighborhood between the gates of Bab al-Fatouh and Bab al-Nasr to the north and Bab Zawiyah.
